What is a Symbolic Wedding Ceremony?Did you get married, but didn’t have the wedding of your dreams? We can preform a symbolic ceremony with no legal documentation. This way you can have the wedding you always wanted, even though you are already technically married. We also have special additions you can add to any ceremony whether it’s a legal marriage or symbolic. Sand ceremonies, rose ceremonies, shell ceremonies and “jump the broom” offer special meaning to the exchange of vows, whether for the first time or to remember that first time. The Sand CeremonyThis represents leaving your two separate lives and joining to make one life together. The separate lives are symbolized by two different colored vases of sand. After the exchange of rings, the officiant explains the meaning of the Sand Ceremony. The Bride and Groom then come together, and pour into one vase, the two individual colors of sand. Their flowing together creates a design made by the couple as they share their first experience of unity as husband and wife. The newly formed union is represented by the intertwined pattern of sand created by the couple. This symbol is then a keepsake of your wedding day. The Rose CeremonyThese are optional vows. The groom hands the bride a rose and reads his part, which is to follow. The bride hands the groom a vase of water and reads her part to the groom. The rose and the vase are put together. We conclude this section with a small significant reading of our own. (Bride & groom need to bring the vase. They may also bring a silk rose, or we offer a live rose for $15.) The Shell CeremonyWith the combining of these shells, you symbolically join your once separate lives. As the shells have been combined with love into one container, so now are your friends and family joined, through you, into one. And your once solitary life’s paths are also now one. All that was once separate is now shared, and in this sharing you both will find new strength and joy as together you forge a new life’s path and destination. Jump the BroomIt marks the beginning of making a home together. It symbolizes the sweeping away of the old and the welcoming of the new; the sweeping away of all negative energy; making way for all good things to come into your lives.
